Dr. Salvatore Inguaggiato is the owner of GI Picco's Cosmetics SRL,  a medium-sized producer of high quality makeup and other beauty products in Milan.

Where does GI Picco;s Cosmetics fit in the spectrum of the Italian beauty products industry?

GI Picco’s is the oldest cosmetics contract manufacturing company in Italy. The company was founded in 1967 and was the “school” for the Italian cosmetics industry; many industry professions were trained by or influenced by our company. We are not a large company but we are a serious, prestigious, and well-known firm with a very high reputation worldwide. We were the first company in our field to offer clinical testing of products to our customers, and today all of our products are clinically tested.

Why is it important to you to manufacture all of your products in Italy, in your own plants?

With the trend toward globalization some firms have moved their manufacturing, or some of it, to China and other developing countries. This dilutes the brand “Made in Italy” and creates confusion about what is a real Italian  product. All of our products are produced under our direct control in our own plants so we know exactly what we are producing. Our makeup is the real thing; Made in Italy.

What do you see as the dominant trends in cosmetics now and for the next few years?

The ecological trend is very strong. Consumers are interested in making sure that products are made with safe and environmentally friendly raw materials, with a preference for natural and organic ingredients. We are working to insure that all of our products are parabeen-free, heavy-metals free, and doing everything possible to guarantee that our products are the best and safest available on the market today.
