Shop Italy Nyc Begins…
So last I left off I was heading to the launch event for Shop Italy NYC. The event was very well produced in a beautiful white space with all white table settings and great finger foods. The panel was moderated by F.I.T. professor Nancy Ross and featured 4 influential women’s perspectives on Italian Fashion and Lifestyle. On the panel were Laurie Brookins (Senior Fashion Editor at Niche Media), Ann Caruso (celebrity and fashion stylist), Kathleen Ruiz (Vice President at Saks 5th Ave), and Caroline Kim (Editorial Director at LX.TV). They discussed what makes Italian fashion Italian fashion, how it differentiates from French, British and American Fashion, how you can tell the difference with “made in Italy” and “made in China”, and a lot more insights on the industry. The general consensus was that the Italian lifestyle was about passion and craft and the beauty of taking your time to enjoy every bit of what you are experiencing, be it food, design, or people. I left that panel a lot lighter than I came, and with new desires of revisiting Italy sooner than I had previewed.
Since then was the first shopping series, which kicked off in a VIP tent at Gansevoort Square. In the tent you could have a drink and a bite while being handed a map that outlined all the participating stores and restaurants. Most of the participants offered discounts for those coming from Shop Italy NYC as well as cocktails and other in-store events. La Perla was especially exciting. We got to see a preview of the following collection on models over champagne. Pretty Sexy! I could not resist the discount there and splurged a bit!
Next week (Wednesday and Thursday, June 22-23) the tent will relocate Madison Ave. Stay tuned I may be able to release what deals they are offering in advance, no promises.;)
